L
Mamaitaly Charity Foundation, a non Mamaitaly Charity Foundation Embarked On Menstrual Hygyiene Project In Volta Region (Ve Deme Orphanage Home)governmental organization and non-profit making organization have taken their Menstrual Hygyiene Project to Ve Deme Orphanage Home in the Volta Region.

In an interview with Chief Executive Officer of Mamaitaly Charity Foundation, Madam Shirley Irene Thompson said that Menstrual Hygiene must be treated among school children but unfortunately, due to lack of knowledge  or due to shyness and embarrassment the situation becomes worse for girls.

"We choose to embark on this project because Mamaitaly Charity Foundation want to increase the knowledge and build the capacity of girls in good menstrual hygiene"

We therefore called on stakeholders in the educational sector to ensure access to safe and affordable menstrual products.

I want to continue by saying that menstrual products is a major challenge for women and girls in rural communities especially, and that affects the education of the girl child.

The Project which is a routine educational exercise being undertaken by the foundation  is our major priority and we also took them through vigorous Menstrual Hygyiene education by Madam Victoria Quansah.

Since we are still in the covid 19 era We also decided to donates couple of face shield and nose masks to help project ourselves from covid 19.

On her part, PRO of Mamaitaly Charity Foundation Madam Sheila Iris Thompson also said that
Menstruators around the world, especially those in low income communities, often face the lack of access to menstrual products when it's that time of the month and without proper sanitary supplies, they may sometimes resort to using newspapers, dirty rags, and even leaves to manage their periods. She disclosed.

She went further by saying that the combination of period poverty, stigmatization, and inadequate reproductive and sexual health education has major consequences for our girls who menstruates wellbeing.

"A situation which can also prevent menstruators from staying in school, thereby ending their education"

Madam Sheila end her speech by saying that this is why Mamaitaly Charity Foundation has birth "The Pad Project".

The Pad Project’s mission is to help our menstruating girls nation-wide by providing adequate menstrual supplies, teaching them about reproduction and sexual health and also to end period stigmatization and normalizing menstruation as a natural occurrence and to help them stay in school.

"We at Mamaitaly Charity Foundation say: A period should end a sentence, not a girl's education".
