Kotoko,Medeama out of CAF Confederations cup whiles Hearts of Oak to know it fate in today's draw in cairo

 

 Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko have declined a challenge to represent Ghana in the CAF Confederations cup as they were barred from the list of clubs to partake in next season's CAF competition.

Medeama and Asante Kotoko are two of three clubs that permit were gave by CAF to represent Ghana in the 2021/22 CAF Inter Club competition. The other club is Hearts of Oak.

Hearts of Oak will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League as the winners of the Ghana Premier League. Leaving Asante Kotoko and Medeama as the solitary two clubs with the shot at representing Ghana in the Confederations cup. 


Nonetheless, the two clubs declined the chance to represent Ghana in the esteemed African league for various individual club reasons.

Chief of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah last week revealed that his outfit won't represent Ghana in the Confederations cup since it is excessively expensive and they will rather utilize the chance to work on the club's unfinished project and work on their team squad in bid to win the Ghana premier league and FA Cup next season.

Medeama too declined the chance as they feel it isn't on "sporting merits" after they completed outside the top and were evicted out of the MTN FA cup in the quarterfinals.

In the mean time, the draw for the starter rounds of the 2021/22 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup will be hung on Friday, 13 August 2021 in Cairo.

Hearts of Oak, who will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions and will have until Sunday, August 15 to have their players  registered for the competition.

Should they miss the cut off time, they'll be given two more enrollment periods (second and third). Notwithstanding, they'll pay a fine of $250 for every player they register in the second player registration window and $500 for every player they register in the third player registration window.
