AFCON 2023 DRAW: Ghana in Pot 2 with Nigeria

Ghana has been put in Pot 2 for the Draw of the next Africa Cup of Nations to held in Cote D'Ivoire next year together with Nigeria and Cameroon.

The four-times Africa champions qualified to the 24th edition of Africa's elite competition after defeating Central Africa Republic last week during the international break and will know her opponents for the mundial next month.

The draw will be held on the 12th October, 2023 in Abidjan, Cote D'ivoire for the 24 countries.

Host nation, Cote D'Ivoire are in Pot 1 with Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt who form the first ratings on the FIFA World Rankings.

Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Democratic Republic of Congo complete Pot 2 for the draw next week. 

South Africa, Cape Verde, Guinea, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania  are in Pot 3 whereas Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Gambia and Tanzania make up Pot 4.

The FIFA World Ranking for the month of September was released earlier today and Ghana maintained her position on the 60th in the world and 11th in Africa.

Senegal are the defending champions of the AFCON trophy defeating Egypt in the last edition in Cameroon.
