BetPawa Premier League: Match Report - Goldstars 2 - 1 Asante Kotoko


Bibiani Goldstars hosted Asante Kotoko at the Dun's Park for their Match Day 2 encounter which ended 2-1.


Three second half goals sparked up the game after virtually a boring first period. 

Prince Owusu Kwabena scored first for Goldstars before Sheriff Mohammed got the equalizer for Asante Kotoko a minute later. 

Eric Bosomtwe sealed the win for the home side within that period Asante Kotoko got the equalizer.

In the first half, a ding-dong affair from both ends clearly defined the purpose of the game by both sides who needed not to drop any point in this encounter.


Both sides showed respect to each other in an approach to study their opponent to exploit their weak point.


Goldstars meant business as their made the first incursion in the game by slotting home but was later on called off on the 18th minutes by referee Alfa Ba Adey after consultation with his assistant.


Asante Kotoko pushed harder to get a goal in the first half but we're rendered useless in attack by the defense of the home side as they failed to make a shot on target in the first.


Referee Alfa Ba Adey, after exhausting the legal 45 minutes, added extra three minutes but both sides failed to make any meaningful impact from it to end the half 0-0.


In the second half, both coaches exhibited tactical acumen but Michael Osei had the upper hand in the end. 

On the 66th minute Prince Owusu finished cooly a lose ball from a free kick which beat Frederick Asare in post to give Goldstars the lead. 

On the 71st minute, substitute Sheriff Mohammed got the equalizer from a sublime strike to open up the game for both sides to grab the victory. 

Goldstars returned to pick the important win on the 74th minute through Eric Bosomtwe. 

The referee added 8 minutes after the 90th minute but Asante Kotoko failed to grab a point in the game. 

Bibiani Goldstars snatched away the three points in the game on the third attempt in Bibiani sincs their promotion into the top flight league.
