Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have defeated Horoya AC by 3-1 in the CAF Champions League first leg encounter at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The Ghanaian champions leave a sigh of relief for a high chance of making it into the group stages by Ghanaian side.
A relatively dull first half that saw few incursions on goal produced a staggering displayed by the Yellow and Mauves in the second half.
Kofi Asmah's goal proved the home side's determination to making it into the group stages of the competition in a completely dominated half in Cape Coast.
Nana Kofi Babil and Nurudeen Abdulai's goals late in the game strengthened Medeama to a 3-0 lead to send the game done and dusted which could afford the second leg to be a mere formality.
However, the visitors had a cushion with a minute to end the game to leave the doors ajar for qualification into the next stage by any of the sides in the second leg in Guinea.
A point in two weeks time in Guinea will spare Medeama SC a chance to rug shoulders with the elites of the African game in the group stages of this season's competition.
