CAS order Palmer to pay GFA, GHALCA, Red Bulls FC 988k euros on Paintsil transfer

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ordered Tema Youth owner, Wilfried Osei Kwaku Palmer, to pay the Ghana Football Association an amount of 150,000 Euros (Hundred and Fifty Thousand Euros) following the transfer of Ghanaian International winger Joseph Paintsil to KRC Genk from Tema Youth.

Paintil joined the Belgium gaint in 2018 from Tema Youth, a move that caused disputes between Tema Youth and the FA over the payment of a percentage of the transfer fee to the Association.

The disputes triggered Palmer to send the case to CAS, which was ruled against the Team Youth owner Mr Palmer.

"The decision issued on 11 June by the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association, insofar as it concerns the interest of the Ghana Football Association, including the payment obligation concerning the amount of 150,000 Euros to be paid to the Ghana Football Association, is confirmed," wrote CAS in a statement dated September 22, 2023.

Palmer and Tema Youth will also take full charge of the cost involved in the court case, which will be paid to the Ghana Football Association.

Mr. Palmer will now have to pay 988,000 Euros to all parties involved in the case.

These payments included EUR 688,000 to Young Red Bull FC, EUR 150,000 to the GFA, and EUR 150,000 to the Ghana League Club Association.
