Martinus Koopman: "We want to win on Sunday"

Head coach of Ghana Premier League side Hearts of Oak, Martinus Koopman wishes his side get their first three points of the season on Sunday against Nsoatreman FC.

Hearts of Oak left it late to lose the game against Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium last Friday in the season's opener in a game matched with below par performance for the Accra-based side.

Preparing for the next game against Nsoatreman on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, head coach Martinus Koopman opens up to the media ahead of the game.

The Dutchman reflects back to the game against RTU and believes a meaningful impact would be made in the game if what was analyzed after the game is fully implemented by the team.

"The players and I have analyzed the last game and you must learn from the last game. I think it is a young team, a new team and we have a lot of expectations from them. Inside, we discuss a lot of things but outside, we are careful," Koopman told the club's media.

On Sunday's encounter, the new gaffer clearly stipulates that the target is to win as the fans are eagerly waiting for the team's first win of the season.

He adds that the current crop of players need to improve to meet the standard needed as the season gears on.

"We lost the first one. Of course, we want to win the second. It will be a nice game, also to show the fans that we are ready.

"A lot of players will have to show level to those who started and it is my choice to make the right choice. We want to win on Sunday."

Hearts of Oak finished twelve on the league table after the 2022/2023 season.
