Africa Football League: Match Report - TP Mazembe register slim advantage over Esperance ahead of second leg on Wednesday

DR Congo side, TP Mazembe played host to Tunisian side Esperance of Tunis at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dares-Salam in Tanzania.

The Day 3 of the maiden edition of the Africa Football League saw the five times Africa Champions stealing home a 1-0 victory over their rivals on the 11th minute through Cheich Oumar Fofana.

The 19-year-old overpowered his markers to nod home a beautiful cross from Phillipe Kinzumbi which was enough to settle the game after ninety minutes.

Should there had been any goal to be scored in the game aside that of Fofana, TP Mazembe were the side that showed resilience and purpose throughout the game to increase the tally but Esperance's goalkeeper Amanallah Memmiche stood between Mazembe's other goals and the 1-0 score line when he made world class saves to prevent Kinzumbi and Boubacar Hainikoye from scoring in the second half.

The result leave the tie wide open for Wednesday's second leg to be played in Tunisia for any of the clubs to make to the semi finals.
