Africa Football League: Simba and Al Ahly end pulsating 2-2 in maiden game

 Tanzanian side Simba SC and Al Ahly of Egypt squared it off in the first match of the maiden edition of the ongoing Africa Football League in Tanzania at Benjamin Nkapa Stadium in Dares-Salam.



The game ended in a pulsating two all draw game after ninety minutes of football.


Simba SC dominated large part of the first half but could not create a clear goal scoring opportunity to allow Al Ahly to steal the lead late in the first half through Reda Slim from Mahmoud Kahraba's assist on the 45th minute.


Al Ahly had a penalty call early on before the opener but was called off after a review by the VAR which ended the first half 1-0 for the Al Ahly.


Simba SC started the second half strongly to push for the equalizer in the early exchanges which paid off on the 52nd minutes for Denis Kibu to pounce on an effort to retain the ball in play. 


Simba SC had the right tonic just before half time and made use of it in full swing after the break and recorded their second goal on the 59th minute by Sadio Kanoute from a corner kick to put them in front for the first time in the game.


Their lead did not last long when Mahmoud Kahraba leveled the scoring for Ahly on the 62nd minute when he latched unto a parried shot by the Simba keeper to slot home with aplomb.


Al Ahly had a back-to-back chances to win the game by substitute Mohsen but the defense of Simba SC remain solid to keep the the results at 2-2 at full time.
