AFRICA: Sierra Leone appoints Amidu Karim as new coach

 The Sierra Leone Football Association has announced the appointment of Amidu Karim as the new head coach of the Men's National Football Team after the exit of their coach John Keister.


Amidu was the assistant coach of the Leone Stars for the past years and his appointment was great to continue the project started by former coach John Keister of building a strong and winning squad.


Amidu represented Sierra Leone at the 1994 and 1996 Africa Cup of Nations.


The Association also appointed Francis Koroma and Alhaji Foray as his assistant coaches.


The new technical staff have been tasked to help guide the team through the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifications, which is starting in November and the qualify them to the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco. 


Leone Stars are currently in Group A of the World Cup qualifiers alongside African giant Egypt, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Djibouti and Ethiopia.
