Black Stars squad to face Madagascar announced; Ashimeru, Andre Ayew, Baba Iddrisu return, Thomas Partey out

Head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has announced the players to represent Ghana for the country's FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros Thursday.

The announcement comes on the backdrop of media reportage that the British Ghanaian gaffer is being discussed at the Ghana Football Association for a possible sack before Ghana’s game against Madagascar.

Twenty-five players are invited for the two games including three goalkeepers, eight defenders, six midfielders, five wingers and three forwards.

The squad sees a return of captain Andre Dede Ayew who has been clubless since he ended his short term stay with Nottingham in June whereas deputy captain Thomas Teye Partey is absent in the team due to an injury.

Local players continue to make in-roll in Chris Hughton's call ups as Medeama SC's defender Abdul Fatawu Hamid and striker Jonathan Sowah found their names in the latest squad.
