CAF Champions League 2023/24: Medeama to leave Ghana for Egypt on Wednesday

 Ghana Premier League Champions, Medeama SC will be leaving the shores of Ghana for North African country, Egypt on Wednesday, 22nd November, 2023 for their first group stage game against Al Ahly.


The Yellow and Mauve's will be enjoying a maiden CAF Champions League group stage games after making it through the preliminary stages defeating Remo Stars of Nigeria and Horoya AC of Congo. 


 Their first game will be against the most successful club in Africa which will be played at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo on Sunday, 26 November, 2023.


Medeama SC plan to depart from Ghana early so as to continue and finish off their planned preparations towards the game in time ahead of the historical encounter.


The team will be having their full squad after three key players joined the Black Stars squad for Ghana’s FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros.


Their absence affected the team's performance in the last weekend’s BetPawa Premier League game against Asante Kotoko SC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, a grounds they have adopted as their home grounds in the competition, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat.


They are in Group D with CR Belouizdad of Algeria, Young Africans of Tanzania and Al Ahly of Egypt.
