CAF Champions League: Match Report - Three second half goals consume Medeama to the minnows tag against Al Ahly

Al Ahly flexed their muscles on Medeama SC in their first group stage game of the CAF Champions League at Al Salam stadium in Cairo by an emphatic 3-0 victory.

Three second half goals from Mahmoud Kahraba, Hussein El-Shahat and Mahmoud Mohsen reduced the Ghanaian champions the true tags they had as the minnows before the game.

In an almost zilch to highlight from in the first half where we saw superior tactical acumen from both coaches, the game headed towards the direction for Medeama SC as they repelled everything that were thrown at them.

Thanks to goalkeeper Felix Kyei, Medeama SC survived the first 45 minutes which ended 0-0.

A different story line was told in the second half when the home side brought a different vibe into the game to outwit the away side comfortably.

Mahmoud Kahraba opened the scoring just after the hour mark on the 66th minute to get Al Ahly the lead which neutralized all the efforts made by Medeama SC in the first half.

Hussein El-Shahat extended the lead to two goals on the 75th minutes to make the game difficult for Medeama SC to think of come back.

Mahmoud Mohsen placed the icing on the cake late in the game on the 88th minute to send Medeama back home empty handed.

The defending champions triumphed in the game by 3-0 even though Medeama proved stubborn in the first half but got depleted into tatters in the second half.

The results brightens the chances of Al Ahly to retaining the title once more and lie the same points as CR Belouizdad who defeated Yanga on Friday by 3-0.
