Chris Hughton defends Edmund Addo call up

 Head coach of Ghana's Black Stars, Chris Hughton has defended the call for the selection of some players in the team despite not having enough playing time at their clubs.


This comes after the general public question reasons why Edmund Addo and other few players name remain within the team even though they have had little or no minutes at all with their clubs this season. 


The former Newcastle manager believes a consistent team is what it takes to be able to sail through the qualifiers to inch a name amongst the countries to make it to the next World Cup in the United States.


In a pre-match conference held at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday ahead of the he game, Hughton insist the right balance is required within the team to ensure the needed victory. 


"With regards to Edmund Addo, he's somebody that we like and somebody we value. We have to keep consistency in the team. There is a lot of choice, and what I can't afford to do is bring five or six new players into the squad. We have to get the right balance," he told the media.


Ghana starts her FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Madagascar on Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium before taking on Comoros next Tuesday for the second game.


The game kicks off at exactly 4 PM.
