A Ghanaian coach, James Kwesi Appiah has won his first game for Sudan in the second game of the FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Democratic Republic of Congo.
Sudan won the game by a lone goal via an own goal on the 79th minutes in a hard-fought victory to set ablaze the mission of the coach in Sudan.
The 63-year-old started the campaign on a slow note when he picked a point at home at the Martrys of February Stadium in Benghazi, Libya against Togo in a 1-1 draw game on Thursday.
Sudan are currently at the summit of the table in Group B temporary awaiting Senegal's game against Togo on Tuesday.
Kwesi Appiah was appointed the head coach of the Sudanese National Team in October together with Ghanaian compatriots Ignatius Osei Fosu and Fatau Dauda as assistant coach and Goalkeepers coach.
They have been tasked to qualify the country to the next World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico and AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
