FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifier: Match Report - Comoros records second straight defeat on Ghana in Moroni

Comoros Island inflicts a second straight defeat to Ghana in this fixture in the second game of the FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers by 1-0 at the Moroni Stadium.

A late first half goal by Myziane Maolida was enough to snatch all three points for Comoros in the game.

Ghana showed promise in the early exchanges having had two great opportunities to go in front but were missed by Jordan Ayew and Antoine Semenyo which spiced up the Comorians into the game.

Comoros made all the positive incursions to goal afterwards and had some few shots on target but were not good enough to find the net.

It was in the dying embers of the first half that Comoros brought deadlock on the 42nd minute when Myziane Maulida danced through the defenses of Ghana to beat four marker and capped his brilliant move by placing the ball at the back of the net to put the home side ahead just before half time.

In the second half, Ghana made a quick substitution by bringing on Kudus Mohammed for captain Andre Ayew to get the team more attacking dynamics.

Inaki Williams had the opportunity to equalize for Ghana on the 56th minute where he met a cross by Semenyo but went just wide.

Majeed Ashimeru and Ernest Nuamah came on for Ghana for more quality attacking moves upfront but all efforts from the Black Stars were thwarted by the defense of Comoros.

Comoros grabbed all the three points after ninety minutes in the game in what could be described as the biggest win in the history of Comoros.

The victory puts Comoros on top of Group I with six points after two games.
