FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Comoros flies high in opener as they beat CAR 4-2

 Comoros has started the FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers on a brighter note as they defeated Central Africa Republic convincingly by 4-2 at the Stade de Moroni.


The Group I opener of the Qualifiers saw visitors Central Africa Republic pulling the first trigger on the 10th minutes through an own goal scored by Abdel Hakim Abdullah.


The goal did not last long as Kassim M'Dahoma quickly brought the home side back on level pegging just before the half an hour mark which was enough to send the game at equal at the break. 


Immediately after the break, Comoros brought their A performance to grab all three points in the game where they took the lead for the first time in the game on the 50th minute, kind courtesy Benjaloud Youssouf to make it 2-1.


Rafiki Said extended the lead for Comoros to 3-1 just before the hour mark on the 58th minutes to make the game far from reach for Central Africa Republic.


In an attempt to get back into the game, the visiting side made two attacking substitution to bring on Cesar Manzoki and Karl Namnganda for Ghislain Baboula and Marco Majouga respectively but had little impact to change the face of the game to their side.


Myziane Maolida compounded the woes of Central Africa Republic on the 68th minute to dump their hopes of making any return into the game, thereby stretching the lead for Comoros to 4-1.


Younn Zahary got a cushion for Central Africa Republic on the 74th minutes which dazed off the home side of a possible come back.


That forced Comoros to strengthen their defenses by bring on Kasim Hadji, Zamer Mohammed, Adel Mahmoud and Raimane Daou to solidify their victory in the game.


Stefano Cusin's side fly high above Raoul Savoy's determined yet far behind side to have a memorable start to the Qualifiers to wait for Ghana next Tuesday in Moroni.


Comoros occupy the summit of the table in Group I as Mali face off against Chad later this evening whiles Ghana welcomes Madagascar in an hour time at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
