Issahaku Fatawu, Nurudeen Abdulai receive late Black Stars call up

Leicester City winger Issahaku Abdul Fatawu and Medeama SC's center back Nurudeen Abdulai have received a late call up into the Black Stars squad for Ghana’s two World Cup Qualifier games against Madagascar and Comoros.

The call up for the duo is due to the unavailability of Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana and Rayo Vallecano center back Abdul Mumin who were part of Chris Hughton’s 25-man-squad pronounced for the encounter last Thursday.

Further information indicates that the duo picked up some slight knocks for their clubs in their last games prior to the November International break and that will make them unable to attend to that game, there by being replaced.

Issahaku Abdul Fatawu who joined the English side from Sporting Lisbon on loan, has been in exceptional form since moving to England and his late call up comes as long overdue as lovers of the game believe he deserves a direct call up into the team.

With Nurudeen Abdulai, it comes as no surprise with his strong output for Medeama SC in the Premier League and the CAF Champions League which sums up to be a perfect replacement for Abdul Mumin.

Ghana will begin her FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifier on Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi against Madagascar before trekking to Comoros four days later for the second game of the group.

The 25-man-squad named by Chris Hughton have already started gathering in camp for the continuous preparation to the games as the team will fly to Kumasi from Accra on Tuesday.
