Ghana Premier League 2023-24: Match Report - Asante Kotoko beat Berekum Chelsea to record three wins on a trot

 Asante Kotoko SC defeated Berekum Chelsea by a lone goal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in their Match Day 13 fixture of the Ghana Premier League.


Steven Mukwala's late first half goal was enough to record Asante Kotoko's victory in the game.


Asante Kotoko SC made all the positive incursions at goal throughout the first half but the resolute defense of Berekum Chelsea remained solid until the 42nd minute.


Captain Fuseini Zakaria of Chelsea gifted the ball to his opposing captain Richmond Lamptey after going pass two Kotoko attackers inside his own half, after which Richmond Lamptey located Isaac Oppong who unselfishly assisted Mukwala inside the box to touch home for the first goal. 


Asante Kotoko SC ended the game victory at half time.


In the second half, Asante Kotoko SC kept possession of the game with the best opportunity to score if there were but were kept at bar even with Peter Amidu's header on the 74th minute which was saved by Gregory.


Asante Kotoko kept on making attacking substitution to ensure they score another to keep the game out of reach for Berekum Chelsea by bringing on Eric Serge Zeze for the exhausted Isaac Oppong.


After the 90 minutes of no more time, six minutes of additional time was added to be played but none of the teams was able to score.


The 1-0 victory give Asante Kotoko SC a third win on the trot against Legon Cities, Medeama SC and Berekum Chelsea after losing three games in a row.


Asante Kotoko SC remain a point behind Berekum Chelsea with 19 points after 14 games on the 7th position on the log.
