Ghana Premier League: Match Report - Five goal thriller sets Asante Kotoko to put "borrowed neighbours" aside in Kumasi

 Accra Hearts of Oak hosted Asante Kotoko SC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as their home grounds to a thrilling 3-2 win in favour of the away team. 



Linda Mtange and Martin Karikari were the scorers of Hearts of Oak where as a brace from red hot Ugandan talisman Steven Dese Mukwala and Isaac Oppong gave Asante Kotoko the victory.


Both teams started with a fierce contest in an end-to-end battle to unsettle each other as chances flew at each end. 


Asante Kotoko SC nearly got in front with a goal line clearance by Hearts of Oak defender after Steven Mukwala connected beautifully to a cross by Enock Morrison from the left on the 19th minute. 


Hearts of Oak returned strongly into the game afterwards and got the opener through Linda Mtange on the 37th minute for the home side to lead 1-0.






Few minutes later, Isaac Oppong leveled the scoring for Asante Kotoko on the 44th minute just before the intervals which left the game all to play for in the second period. 





Asante Kotoko SC showed extraordinary character after recess to expectedly give them all three points in the game. 


Steven Mukwala gave Asante Kotoko the lead on the 56th minute and got his second on the 74th minute after superb assist from Richmond Lamptey's ball which was not duly cared for by Osei Assibey to goalkeeper Richmond Ayi to bounce off freely for the Ugandan to finish with aplomb. 



Asante Kotoko led 3-1 on the 90th minute before Martin Karikari pulled one back for Hearts of Oak on the 90+3 to end the game 3-2 for Asante Kotoko SC. 


Asante Kotoko continue their splendid run of form making it four wins in their last four pushing them to 22 points on the league table.
