Asante Kotoko SC midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, has responded to the plethora of calls from Ghanaians for his inclusion in the Black Stars squad as Ghana prepares for the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
The 26-year-old has been in a scintillating form this season holding forth the mettle for Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League as the club is on a resuscitation mission after a bizarre start to the season.
He expresses his awe feelings on how he has been recognized for his good works on the field of play for Asante Kotoko after an awesome display against Accra Hearts of Oak last Sunday in Kumasi.
However, he would not be swollen-headed by the call for his inclusion in Black Stars squad for AFCON because, he feels it is only an indication for him to continue working hard.
“I've heard calls for my inclusion in the Black Stars call-up. But as a professional player, these things shouldn't get into your head but rather should encourage you to work harder so you bring out your best.”
Richmond Lamptey joined Asante Kotoko SC two seasons ago from third-tier side Inter Allies and has since been an integral leader of the team.
