JUST IN: Inaki Williams to arrive in Ghana on Monday, January 1

 Ghanaian international, Inaki Williams will be arriving in Ghana on Monday, January 1, 2024 ahead of the country's camping date for the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, to be held in Ivory Coast.

The 29-year-old will not be part of Athletico Bilbao's game against Seville on January 4 which the Basque club had wanted to have the players contribution to the game.

The club reports that, Inaki Williams wants to be with the Black Stars ahead of time to have the needed preparation for the tournament of which the player's wish was insisted by the Ghana Football Association for Athletico Bilbao to make way for the Player to arrive ahead of time.

Ghana will begin camping for the tournament on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in Kumasi for a ten days secret camping. 

Inaki Williams has been battling with an innocuous knock which he has not gained full recovery to feature for Athletico Bilbao which makes it more welcoming to have him in the Black Stars to fully recovery in camp before Ghana's test game against Namibia.

The Ghana Football Association officially announced the nationality switch of the Inaki in 2022 prior to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and has proven an important addition to the Black Stars since making the choice to don the Ghana jersey.

He had his debut goal for Ghana against Madagascar in Kumasi during the FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers after so many attempt. 

He has been in scintillating form for Athletico Bilbao this season having scores seven times in the La Liga Santander pushing his side to the 5th on the league table after 17 games.

Ghana will be chasing for her 5th AFCON trophy and will be needing the experience and expertise of Inaki Williams to breaking the 42 year jinx in Ivory Coast.

It is expected that head coach Chris Hughton will be naming his final squad for the tournament on Monday, January 1, 2024 in Accra.
