Abdul Fatawu Issahaku sees red for Leicester, sets to return on the eve of AFCON against Watford

Ghanaian international, Issahaku Abdul Fatawu, has received a red card in Leicester City's championship game against Coventry on Saturday afternoon at The Coventry Building Society Arena.

The powerful winger fouled Jake Bidwell late in the first half after his side had taken the lead on the 44th minute which resulted in a straight red card on the 45+2 minute.

The one-man down for Leicester City saw Coventry City equalizing on the 79th minute via Callum O'Hare and capping it with another two goals in the dying embers of the game to give the home side all three points at the end of the game.

The red card means, the 19-year-old will be missing the team's next three games against Ipswich Town in the Championship, Hall City/Birmingham City in the FA Cup and Stoke City in the Championship.

He returns on the 10th February, 2024, a day before the final game of the Africa Cup of Nations, against Watford in the Round 31 of the league at the Vicarage Road.

The Sporting Lisbon player omitted himself from taking part in the AFCON 2023 for Ghana so as to see him get enough matches for Leicester City to seal a permanent deal for the English side away from Portugal.

Even though he made the preliminary 55-man-squad for the Africa Cup of Nations for Ghana, he was left out in the final 27 due to his reasons.
