AFCON 2023: Daniel Laryea to officiate Tunisia vs Mali game

Ghanaian referee, Daniel Nii Laryea has been appointed as the center referee for Group E clash between Tunisia Mali in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.

The 36-year-old has been the only Ghanaian official in the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations and will have the opportunity to witness his first game of the tournament on Saturday at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo.

The Ghanaian number 1 referee has had several opportunities to officiate at the top level in Africa games during club and international level and will continue to build up on the experiences gained with another refereeing in the AFCON.

He will be leaving the VAR room where he's originally fixed for this tournament to the center of the field as Tunisia faces a stern encounter with one of Africa's fast rising football country, Mali.

The group remain open for any of the countries to fight out of into the next phase of the competition which put this game as one of the most interested games to watch which could justify any of the team's stance in the tournament.

Mali tops the group with three points after beating South Africa by 2-0 whereas Tunisia lost painfully to Namibia in the dying embers of the game by 1-0.
