AFCON 2023: Inaki Williams to join Black Stars team on Thursday

 Spanish La Liga side, Athletico Club de Bilbao have confirmed that, Ghana striker, Inaki Williams, will leave Spain for Ghana on Thursday morning, January 4, 2024. 

The player was expected to be in Ghana two days ago before the Black Stars gathered for their ten days training session in Kumasi but due to an illness, he had to remain in the camp of the Basque side to gain fitness before leaving.


The medical team of the club confirms that, the player will be able to join his colleagues in camp on Thursday as he has been cleared of any ailments.


The 29-year-old has been battling with an ailment since the Spanish La Liga went on break, trying to recovery fully before joining the Black Stars of which he will compliment the rest of his teammates who have started training on Tuesday.


The team had their first session of the pre-AFCON at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex with twenty players with Inaki Williams, including other players, could not join the team on Tuesday.


He fully became a Ghanaian when he chose the West African country over Spain prior to the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar where he played integral part of Ghana's adventure in the tournament.


He scored his debut goal for the Black Stars in November 2023 when he headed home a late strike against Madagascar in the FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.



He is expected to be the leading marksman for the team during the tournament as Ghana chases for her 5th title after 42 years.
