AFCON 2023: Morocco national team not good in the group stages - Broos

Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos has chided his opponents Morocco as they set up a Round 16 clash in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The Rainbow nation came second in a group that comprised of Mali, Namibia and Tunisia.

After loosing against Mali, they beat Namibia 4:0 before settling for a goalless draw against Tunisia in the last group encounter.

Speaking ahead of the game, the South Africa Coach affirmed "The Moroccan national team was not good in the group stage. We followed them and know very well that we are capable of beating them.

"We did this a little while ago and we have no doubt we will do it again. My confidence of us making the quarter finals is high". Said Hugo Broos.

The AFCON 2017 winner has done a massive job for the Rainbow nation as he returned them into the Africa Cup of Nations after missing out in the last in Cameroon.

The team has only conceded two goals which was the first game against Mali that ended in a loss as they have also scored four goals in the continental showpiece.

South Africa had a quarter final finish the last time they appeared in the AFCON as they lost 2:1 against Nigeria in Egypt 2019 which Hugo Broos has firm belief the Rainbow nation can possibly achieve.

On their way to achieving that feat is Africa's first time semi-finalists at the World Cup Morocco, a team that topped group F in the ongoing AFCON.
