AFCON 2023: Nigeria suffer defeat to Guinea in pre-tournament preparation

West Africa giants, Nigeria were defeated 2-0 by Guinea at their camping bases in the United Arab Emirates in a Pre-AFCON friendly encounter.

Two goals at both ends of the half through Aguibou Camara and Facinet Conte ensured victory for the Guinean.

Guinea started scoring just before the first quarter of the game through Aguibou Camara on the 14th minute to give them a 1-0 lead throughout the first period of the game.

They continued from where they left off in the first half to produce another attack which led to their second goal through Facinet Conte on the 64th minute to extend their lead to 2-0.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria had no panacea to the attacking threats of the Guineans who solidified their gains in the game with intrepid defense to prevent their opponents from scoring.

Leading attacker for Guinea, Sehou Guirasse of VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga limped off early in the game but still had the attacking prowess to beat Nigeria.

This game is the major friendly game by both countries ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 which start this weekend in Ivory Coast.

Three-times Africa Champions, Nigeria had a budget of $1.5 million approved last week for the tournament.
