AFCON 2023: Pitso praises Mokoena after Bafana Bafana win

Legendary South African coach, Pitso Mosimane, has showered praises on Bafana Bafana midfielder, Teboho Mokoena following his great performance as South Africa advance into the Quarter-finals of AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast.

South Africa won 2:0 as they defeated World Cup semifinalists Morocco at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro.

Orlando Pirates forward Evidence Makgopa scored first before Mokoena scored a free kick in the game.

Taking to his X handle the former Al Ahly and Sundowns Coach wrote: "Teboho Mokoena! What a player!. The free kick he scored was just icing on the cake! He stepped on every grass leaf on the pitch. Bossing the midfield. No arguments, SA is one of the most tactically disciplined teams in the tournament. No frills, just grinding".
Bafana Bafana sets a clash with one of the best teams in the tournament so far, Cape Verde, a team that is yet to lose a game in the competition as they topped Group B that included record winners Egypt and Ghana.

The South African team made it into the Quarter-finals the last time they appeared in the AFCON which was 2019 in Egypt as they lost against Nigeria.

In as much as they missed out in the last time in Cameroon, the Rainbow nation is back showing strong tenacity this time around.

With a proven winner Hugo Broos who won with Cameroon in 2017 in the dugout, South Africa can hope to reach the semi final of the continental showpiece since 2000.

Bafana Bafana after conceding 2:0 against Mali in the first group game is yet to concede again as they have scored 6 goals in the last 3 games of the competition and they are growing stronger in the tournament.
