AFCON 2023: Tom Saintfiet resigns as Gambia head coach

 Head coach of The Gambia football team, Tom Saintfiet has resigned from his post as the head of the country's football technical team.

The Belgian disclosed this after the team's gallant lost to Cameroon by 3-2 in the last group stage game which leaves them with no points. 

Saintfiet has a contract with the The Gambia FA that runs till 2026, however, the 50-year-old believes it is about time he calls it a day. 

The former Togo manager led The Gambia to their first ever AFCON in host in Cameroon 2021 reaching a remarkable quarter-finals but could not repeat same in Ivory Coast.
