I never said the President was in my pocket - Kwasi Nyantakyi

Former Ghana Football Association, GFA, President, Kwasi Nyantakyi has difussed claims that he said he had the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, in his pocket in the Number 12 expose that they were lies against him.

A lot of allegations where on the 55-year-old former first Vice President of CAF after videos went viral in 2017 when he met a supposed Arabian in the United Arab Emirates who wanted to invest in Ghana Football and Ghana as a country.

Those Arabian where disguised Ghanaians who claim wanted to investigate alleged corruption in Ghana Football, thereby filmed their interaction with Nyantakyi during the meeting.

The aftermath of the meeting caused the former President to leave his post at CAF and as an Executive Council Member of FIFA.

The main issue that caught the attention of Ghanaians in the "Number 12" expose was that, Kwasi Nyantakyi allegedly said he had the President of Ghana in his pocket and can easily secure investment deals for the Arabian at the Presidency.

In an interview with Starr FM in Accra, he has denied ever saying that, which he adds it was a smack disrespect to the highest seat of Ghana to anyone to say that.

"I never said that. This is propaganda and who am I to defend myself. Ask Ana's Aremeyaw Anas to produce a tap in which I said that. How could I even say that?... It is a disrespect for people to do that (to the President)."

FIFA halted football activities in Ghana for eighteen (18) months, after which a Liaison Committee was formed to steer the affairs of football in Ghana followed by the Normalization Committee led by Dr. Kofi Amoah.

Kwasi Nyantakyi has been battling with Anas Aremeyaw Anas in court to prove his innocence which is still being attended to at an High Court in Accra.
