REPORTS: Baba Abdul Rahman opts out of AFCON 2023

Ghana defender, Baba Abdul Rahman has opted to be omitted from the final 27-man-squad of the Black Stars for the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, to be held in Ivory Coast this month.

The head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton, will be naming his final squad later today at the Alisa Hotel.

The former Chelsea defender's name will not be found in the team, according to reports, and will be concentrating on his club duties.

It is further stated that, the player feels unappreciated by Ghanaians and will like to excuse himself from the AFCON to give space for other players to perform to the satisfaction of Ghanaians.

He has been out of the Ghana team due to injury since September when Ghana was involved in international games, however, has gained full fitness and is very active for his side, PAOK, in Greece.

The 29-year-old played integral part of Ghana's 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar where the Black Stars lasted only the group stages of the competition.
