Players of Asante Kotoko SC were emotionally upsurge for their assistant captain, Richmond Lamptey when his name was mentioned by Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton, for the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
The left-footed midfielder was part of the three local players named in the 27-man-squad for the Ghana in the 34th edition of the biggest football competition in Africa.
His teammates at Asante Kotoko were with him during the pronouncement and were excited for him to represent the team in AFCON.
He is having a season to remember in the local league with Asante Kotoko producing every good attacking of the club which has propelled them to finishing third on the league log after the first round of the 2023-24 season in Ghana.
He recorded six assists and two goals in 16 games for the club which makes his addition as not startling.
