CAF Champions League: Al Ahly to play at Baba Yara Sports Stadium after 37 years

Al Ahly, the most successful side  on the continent had been an eternal rival of one of Ghana's top side Asante Kotoko meeting them 3 times in the 1980's.

Even though Al Ahly were in Ghana some 12 years ago when they met Berekum Chelsea, they return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for tue first on friday against Medeama.

The Egyptian side have been in Ghana 6 times 1982, 1983, 1987, 2000, 2006 and 2012 of which the last 3 have been outside Kumasi.

Al Ahly leads their group with 6 points after 4 round of games with Belouizdad and Young Africans at 5 points each while Medeama is having 4 points.

The group has really proven to be the toughest group as it was predicted.

Al Ahly have never won a game on Ghanaian soil as all the 6 games they played ended in 3 draws and 3 defeats.

The Caf Champions League returns after a month of international football at the AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Group D takes attention as the group of death where Al Ahly, CR Belouizdad, Young Africans and Medeama are grouped.
