Emerse Fae confirmed permanent coach of Ivory Coast after AFCON Magic

Interim Coach of the Elephants, Emerse Fae has been confirmed permanently to lead the charge as Ivory Coast coach following his tremendous performance in the recently held AFCON in Ivory Coast.

In a dramatic turn of events, chances were lost as hopes were dashed after 3 round of group games.

Ivory Coast, after winning opening game against Guinea Bissau lost to runners up Nigeria narrowly and a heavy 4:0 scoreline to Equatorial Guinea in the last game.

This prompted authorities of the Federation of Ivorian Football to part ways with Jean Louis Gasset as Emerse Fae took over alongside his playmate Guy Demel on interim basis for the rest of the tournament.

Ivory Coast had to wait for the next two days before been confirmed as one of the best third place spots.

Emerse Fae completely turned the fortunes of the hosts as they metamorphosed from doubters to believers.

They beat defending champions Senegal in the Round of 16 on penalties, won against Mali after 120 minutes in the quarter finals and eventually defeated DR Congo and Nigeria in the semi-final and final respectively.

Today at a Press Conference in Abidjan the Federation of Ivorian Football President said " I'm going to announce to you, Emerse Fae, the interim coach has been confirmed permanently as the Coach of Ivory Coast."
