FIFA to set up an academy in Ghana

Head of FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development, Arsene Wenger, has highly praised the just ended Africa Cup of Nations and hints that the world's football governing has tipped several Africa countries, including Ghana, to have FIFA set up academy to boast the development of football on the continent.

The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations produced a lot of positives in the Africa game especially on the part of officiating which has seen globally appraisal.

The positive narratives in the aftermath of the AFCON 203 has forced FIFA to invest in the Africa game by continuing to help Africa unearth and develop talent to help keep football as a top marketing avenue on the continent of Africa.

"There have been remarkable improvements since the last tournament. On the pitch, off the pitch, the organisation, the quality of the pitches, the level of organisation on the pitch - the commitment was intense.

"Over the next six months to one year, our plan is to open more academies in Africa. We are now close to opening new ones in Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Ghana and Zambia. By the end of 2026, we’ll have 75 academies all over the world. That means football education has moved forward and that’s what we’re focusing on at the moment.

"We want the game to be more competitive and of better quality and there is only one way to do it: it’s the quality of the football education and quality of the competitions." Arsene Wenger proudly stated.

The Africa Cup of Nations erased many assertions with regards to the Africa game as it gave everything that defines football to the world.

Ghana will benefit from talent hunting as the country continues to have individual academies set up to give opportunities for young talented players to exhibit their potential for the football global market.

Kudus Mohammed, Ernest Nuamah, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Salisu Mohammed, etc who are products of academy football have been integral in the Black Stars of recent times which serves as a fair ground to whip up the interest for FIFA to set up an academy in Ghana.
