Ghana receives $700k after AFCON debacle

Ghana will receive an amount of $700,000 USD for their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations which is ongoing in Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars of Ghana played three games in the group stages of the tournament but failed to progress beyond the first round for not securing enough points.

Ghana exited the tournament for garnering only two points in the group which could not secure them a berth in the Round 16 as the best third position was not in their favour.

The exit means Ghana has dotted out in two consecutive AFCON tournaments ignominiously in the group stages as they failed to make it out in the last edition in Cameroon.

The results of Ghana's failure in the tournament means, the Ghana Football Association will receive an amount of $700,000.00 USD for honouring the group stage games.

This is an improvement on the amount given by CAF to countries who exited at the group stages as juxtaposed to the last edition where the tournament has seen a total increment of forty percent.
