Brentford express interest in Ghanaian defender

English Premier League side, Brentford have showed interest in signing Ghanaian defender Baba Abdul Rahman in the summer transfer window when league games across Europe have concluded, according to reports.

The London-based side is prepared to cash-in around £5 million on the left-back who has exhibited exceptional performance for his side in the Greek top-flight league where he has been for the past twelve months after leaving Chelsea permanently since joining the Blues in August 2015/16 season.

The PAOK Thessaloniki player has given so much to his side this season to convince Brentford of adding to their annals in the defensive department starting from the 2024/25 season where the club will be chasing for a spot in European Football for subsequent seasons.

The 29-year-old has contributed to eight (8) goals from his position with five (5) goals and three (3) assists this season attesting to his strong attacking sense apart from his defensive abilities which Frank Thomas's side will require to better their place on the EPL log next season.

Notwithstanding the fact that the former Asante Kotoko SC player has faced health challenges when he collapsed during a football game few weeks ago, he has quickly regained his strength to ensure he continues his fine form for his side this season which has enriched his price tag.

Baba could not make the final list for Ghana's disappointing AFCON 2023 squad after requesting to be exempted for health reasons so as to fully recover from injury to be able to serve his country fully fit.

After taking that decision, he has gone on to contribute significant number of goals to his side, both in domestic football and Europe competitions (Europa Conference League) luring Brentford to show interest in the player.

He has already featured for English clubs including Chelsea and Reading FC which will require less time to familiarize with the league which comes as an added advantage to both the player and Brentford should the deal go through.

PAOK Thessaloniki FC are second on the Greek league table with 60 points whiles Brentford are lying 15th on the EPL table with 26 points after 29 games.
