Black Stars should be built around Kudus- Asamoah Gyan

 Former captain of Ghana Asamoah Gyan has admonished that the national team must be built around in-form West Ham United playmaker Mohammed Kudus.



Mohammed Kudus recently participated in the last continental showpiece in Ivory Coast as he impressed with 2 goals in his debut AFCON tournament. 

Speaking on Accra based Asempa FM, the former captain said it obviously Mohammed Kudus when asked about the player the Black Stars should be built around. 

"During the time l was coming up we had Michael Essien, Stephen Appiah and it came to my time, Sulley Muntari was also around", said Africa's all time top scorer at the World Cup.

"Players came to pass at Black Stars Abedi Pele came, Stephen Appiah, Michael Essien, Asamoah Gyan era came and now It's Kudus era. He is the only Ghanaian player performing in Europe and not in any league but the Premier League. He is doing well not only Ghana but doing so well in Africa. He is the only African player for now doing well so we have to support him" he added.

Asamoah Gyan has been the captain of Black Stars since 2013 till his last AFCON appearance for Ghana in 2019.

He has also featured in 109 games for Ghana and been the country's all time top scorer coupled with his high feat of 6 goals in the Mundial been Africa's top scorer at the World Cup.
