Agbesimah joins Samartex 1996 from Hearts of Oak

Captain for Accra Hearts of Oak, Kofi Agbesimah has moved to Ghana Premier League champions, Samartex 1996 on a two-year-deal.

The beleaguered player has fulfilled a wish he so much desired following an horrendous output in the 2023/24 season where he led the team to escape relegation narrowly.

In recent days, the former Bechem United player has called for the management of the team to relieve him of his duties at the club citing reasons that he is unhappy at the club which forced the club to enter negotiations with the Samraboi-based side.

The addition comes in a nick of time for Samartex 1996 as they further cement their bags of players in preparation to the first round of games on the Preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.

Agbesimah's experience in the local game will be vastly tested at Samartex where there will continue be pressure on him to perform as Samartex seek to, at least, get to the group stages of the Champions League.

The exit of captain, Emmanuel Keyekeh to Sindiga Black Stars in Tanzania and Yussif Dauda to APR FC in Rwanda has forced Samartex to make wholesale signings including their newly recruited player to reinvigorate the side ahead of all competitions in the upcoming season.
