The Ghana Football Association, GFA, have appointed female referee, Juliet Appiah as the official for the maiden edition of the Democracy Cup between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko SC on July 17, 2024.
The game, which was initially postponed from Friday 5 July, 2024 to Wednesday, 17 July, 2024, will have all female officials where Doris Essuman Darko and Mary Tei will assist her on Line 1 and Line 2 respectively which Obenewaa Appiah being the 4th official.
The game will be played to commemorate Ghana's 30 years of democratic rule which has grown from strength to strength in the annals of Ghana's history.
A curtain raiser between old Black Stars players and current Members of Parliament will be played to usher in the big game.
Both Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko SC have gone into deep preparation ahead of this match which, paradoxically, has become a pre-season ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Football season.
Accra Hearts of Oak have officially announced two major signings whereas Asante Kotoko SC have announced four signings ahead of this game next Wednesday.
Juliet Appiah is a Police personnel and was awarded FIFA refereeing license in 2018.
