Asante Kotoko defender explains why he's still absent for team training

Asante Kotoko SC defender, Yussuf  Mohammed Nurudeen, has clarified narratives that he is avoiding a return to the club after resumption of team training.

Asante Kotoko SC returned to team training two weeks ago at the Adako Jachie training grounds to prepare for the upcoming Democracy Cup but the strong defender is the only known player who is yet to report to training.

It was reported that last week that the player was working on his permanent transfer from Tamale where he works as a nurse to Kumasi but has not gone through yet.

The former Real Tamale United defender tried securing a permanent transfer to Kumasi last season but was unsuccessful.

Having gone through challenging times combining both professions last season from Asante Kotoko SC, Yussif Mohammed is bent on ensuring he completes the transfer before returning to Kumasi.

However, other reports indicates that the player is not willing to return and is seeking for a transfer outside Ghana to continue his playing career of which he vehemently denies.

He confirms that he remains a player of the club and is committed to serving the club until he runs his contract.

"You know am a professional nurse, playing in Kumasi and working in Tamale is a difficult one. I'm still at home, working around to see how I can be transferred to Kumasi.

"I still have contract with Kumasi Asante Kotoko and when the transfer is successful, I will join my colleagues. I'm committed to Kumasi Asante Kotoko and will always give out my best."

Asante Kotoko SC are preparing for the maiden edition of the Democracy Cup against Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 17, 2024.
