"Next NDC government will pay stipends to GPL players"- John Mahama

Former President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama has reiterated that his next government will ensure Ghana Premier League players will be paid from government coffers to commit players in the local league.

In a meet the press done on Sunday in Accra, John Dramani Mahama relays the fact that the party's manifesto for the 2020 election which clearly stipulated a "Big Push Agenda" which was to spend $10 million on infrastructural development include a portion which will give stipends to Ghana Premier League players.

In an era where player exodus has become the order of the day, giving players a reasonable amount of monthly stipend will motivate players to remain in the local league to ensure competitiveness and enhance quality of play in the Ghana Premier League.

"We will pay stipends to footballers in the Ghana Premier League as promised in the 2020 manifesto", the former President said.

John Dramani Mahama is seeking for re-election in the December 7 General Election to complete a second term which was denied him twice in 2016 and 2020 after serving the first from 2012-2016.
